First Aid Training

Who is this course for?

For anyone looking to become an emergency first aider in the workplace. It meets the training requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 for emergency first aiders in organisations that have determined, through their first-aid needs assessment, that staff should be trained to this level.

This is also the Level 3 Emergency First Aid certificate required for SIA licence courses.

Course learning material includes

The qualification covers the roles and responsibilities of a first aider and how to assess an incident. It also covers practical skills in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), using an automated external defibrillator (AED), first aid for a choking casualty, managing external bleeding and hypovolaemic shock, and treating minor injuries. It is assessed by:

• Practical assessment
• Multiple-choice assessment

All assessments must be completed and passed to obtain this qualification, which is valid for 3 years from the date of achievement.

Requirements

• Aged 16+ to receive this certificate and take on the responsibility of being a first aider in the workplace
• A minimum of Level 1 English language skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking

It is assessed by:

All assessments must be completed and passed to obtain this qualification, which is valid for 3 years from the date of achievement.

For anyone who wants to become a paediatric first aider in the workplace, responsible for the care and safety of infants and children. It suits those already working in, or preparing to enter, the industry and meets the paediatric first aid requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Course learning material includes

Topics include the role and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider and giving first aid to an infant or child who is unresponsive. It also covers first aid for an infant or child with head and spinal injuries, who is choking, or who is suffering from anaphylaxis. It is assessed by:

• Practical assessment
• Written assessment

All assessments must be completed and passed to obtain this qualification, which is valid for 3 years from the date of achievement.
